ANNE JOSEPH
BOARD CHAIR
Anne Joseph was born in Baltimore, MD and grew up in Richmond, VA. She received her B.A. in political science from Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT in 1981 and her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1985. Upon graduation, she practiced with the law firm of Thacher, Proffitt & Wood LLP in New York City, where she worked as a banking lawyer until 1990. She and her husband, Charlie Joseph, moved to Jacksonville in 1994, where they have raised their four children. While their children were young, Anne was active in the Duval County Public School system as a volunteer in a variety of capacities. Since 2009, Anne has been involved with MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation, a nonprofit organization that offers after-school tutoring, tennis, and a scholarship program for at-risk children in the Durkeeville area. She served on the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation Board for many of those years, chairing several committees, including the Finance and Gala Committees.
Anne is an avid supporter of MOCA’s mission to promote the discovery, knowledge, and advancement of the art, artists, and ideas of our time throughout the Jacksonville community. She has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2017.

PETER SCOTT BROWN, PHD
BOARD VICE-CHAIR
Peter Scott Brown, PhD, is an associate professor of medieval art history at the University of North Florida. He has a bachelor's degree from Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, and master's and doctorate degrees in art history from Yale University. Brown is a specialist in medieval art history with particular focuses on Romanesque sculpture and the liturgical and popular receptions of medieval art. His research and publications address topics including the origins of medieval architectural sculpture, architectural sculpture and liturgy, spolia in medieval art, epigraphy in medieval sculpture, the restoration of medieval sculpture, and iconographies of women and the profane. Brown joined the faculty of the University of North Florida in 2005 and teaches widely on the critical interpretation of art and on the art of the Middle Ages and early modern period in courses including art appreciation, medieval art and architecture, Romanesque art, northern Renaissance and northern baroque art, and the apocalypse in art. He has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2015.
WENDE WILSON
SECRETARY
Wende Wilson retired from a career with Girl Scouts as a CEO of six different Councils/corporations around the country including Pennsylvania, Oregon, Illinois, and here in Jacksonville. Her specialties included governance, inclusion, financial management and control, creation of endowments and reserves, and the full integration of goals into daily tactics, budgets, and operations.
In the past, she has been president of UWADA (United Way Agency Directors Association), a member of Leadership Jacksonville, a member of the Baptist Foundation Development Council, and numerous other volunteer opportunities around the country.
She is a graduate of Penn State, took classes at Harvard Business School, and was certified as an ethics trainer at the Josephson Institute for Ethics.
MOCA has been her most favored charity for at least a decade. She is the past president of the MOCA Guild, an affinity group that supported the Museum for many years. She admires its innovation, inclusion, and readiness. She believes a solid core of outstanding staff and Board members have kept MOCA at its best all this time. She has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2021.
PRESTON H. HASKELL
TRUSTEE EMERITUS
Preston H. Haskell is the founder of integrated design-build firm The Haskell Company, the largest privately held construction company in Florida and a top design/build firm in the United States. He earned a Civil Engineering degree from Princeton University, an MBA from Harvard, and studied Building Engineering and Construction at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In addition to his service on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees, Haskell has served as chairman of many local organizations and companies, including: the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, the Jacksonville Electric Authority, United Way of Northeast Florida, the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, and the Florida Government Accountability to the People Commission.
He has also previously served as a trustee of Princeton University, chairman of the Alliance for World Class Education, director and former chairman of the Schultz Center for Teaching & Leadership, and former chairman of the Florida Postsecondary Education Commission.
Haskell is an avid art collector, with a primary interest in Abstract Expressionism and Minimalism from the 1940s and 1950s. He frequently loans works of art from his personal collection to institutions around the country. Haskell's long-term support of MOCA Jacksonville mirrors his commitment to the museum's mission to promote the discovery, knowledge, and advancement of the art, artists, and ideas of our time.
LAUREN BAKER
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Lauren Baker received a BS in Economics from Virginia Tech. She was VP at both MBNA, America Bank and Bank of America before deciding to stay at home to raise her children and volunteer in the community. Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, Lauren was on the development committee for the Delaware Children's Museum. Since relocating to Ponte Vedra Beach in 2009, Lauren has serve as the Treasurer of the PVPV Elementary School PTO Board and currently serves on the Christ Episcopal Preschool Board.
Lauren is married to Ted Baker and has 4 children. Some of her favorite artists are Lee Krasner, Richard Diebenkorn Derek Fordjour, David Hockney, Kathleen Ryan and Elias Sime. She has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2020.
SCOTT BENNETT
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Scott Bennett is the Vice President for Administration & Finance of the University of North Florida. He is responsible for overseeing more than 20 departments, managing all aspects of financial operations, information technology, business services, human resources and EOI, infrastructure, construction, plant operations and the University Police Department (UPD).
Bennett has been at UNF since 1999. He previously held the positions of both associate vice president and assistant vice president of Administration and Finance, Inspector General, and as project director for the University’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation project.
Bennett has more than 30 years of experience, including more than 25 years in the higher education realm. Prior to joining UNF, Bennett held positions with the Florida Board of Regents and the Auditor General’s Office within the Florida Legislature. He is a licensed certified public accountant (CPA).
Bennett has served on various local and national boards and committees, including the Community First Credit Union’s Board of Directors and Audit Committee, the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers (SACUBO) Comprehensive College and University Committee, and numerous review committees for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges. He has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2020.
KEVIN CALLOWAY
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Kevin Calloway has a dual background in art and technology. He earned his B.A. in English Literature and Art History from Florida State University. He is currently the owner/operator of Touché Gallery, a contemporary art gallery with a focus on the needs of art collectors, and the Chief Information Officer at Natural Life, a Ponte Vedra-based lifestyle company.
Previously, Calloway founded Space 42, a 22,000 sq. ft. space in Florida that created culture around art and technology by hosting artist from around the world and cultivating many local partnerships, in order to bring cultural events to the Northeast Florida community with a focus on introducing new ideas and technology.
His technology experience spans 27 years and has included CTO/CIO roles at Fortune 1000 companies as well as cutting-edge startups. In his work as a digital transformation specialist, Calloway works to assist companies in addressing and overcoming technology roadblocks that impede them from reaching their full potential. Over his career, he has worked with enterprise clients such as Yahoo!, Zappos, SONY, Disney, Fashion Nova, Paul Frank, Power Rangers, ABC, Levis, Stryker Medical, Harbor Freight Tool, Saban Brands, BCBG, Rachel Zoe, House of Harlow, Hartwell Industries, J2 Global, ExtraTV, and many others. He has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2024.
JILL DAVIS
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Jill Davis graduated Cum Laude from Salisbury University with a B.A. in Political Science. She earned a J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2004. Upon graduation, Ms. Davis was admitted to the Florida Bar and has remained an active member for 14 years.
Ms. Davis worked as a prosecutor in the State Attorney's Office in the 4th Judicial Circuit from 2004 to 2007. She prosecuted over 900 criminal cases, ranging from misdemeanors to life felonies.
Since 2007, Ms. Davis's focus on philanthropy and fundraising for many organizations in the North Florida region led to her involvement in the Jacksonville area. Some of her roles have included serving as: Event Co-Chair of Teach for America Jacksonville, "Ten Year Anniversary Celebration" (2019); Event Chair and Committee Chair of Riverside Presbyterian Day School Annual Gala (2016-2018); Committee Chair of St. Vincent's Hospital, "Delicious Destinations" (2016); Co-Event Chair of the Jacksonville Zoo Fundraiser "Zoobilee" (2010-2013); Committee Chair of the Pediatric Hospice Fundraiser, "Halloween Doors and More" (2012); Committee Chair of the Wolfson's Children's Hospital Gala, "The Arts and Antiques Show (2011); Committee Chair of the American Cancer Society Gala, "The Cowford Ball" (2007).
In addition to her volunteer efforts, Ms. Davis has served on numerous boards throughout Jacksonville. Her passion for children and education drives her desire to serve those in need. She has served as a Community Advisory Board Member for North Florida Pediatric Hospice (2013) and a Board Member of Teach for America Jacksonville (2016-2013). Ms. Davis was appointed to the UNF Board of Trustees by the Board of Governors in 2019 for a term ending January 6, 2025. She serves as Vice Chair of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee and of the Audit and Compliance Committee.
Ms. Davis is currently pursuing a certification as a Title IX Investigator to assist organizations receiving federal funding with sexual assault allegations.
She and her husband, Jed, are actively involved in Riverside Presbyterian Day School where their three boys, Cooper, Austin, and Smith attend school. She has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2021.
DITA DOMONKOS
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
With a Master's in Educational Psychology, Dita Domonkos landed a role as director of a clinic in New York City specializing in schizophrenia and manic depression. After completing a special films study program at NYU, she served as director and producer for Vision Associates, creating corporate image films and television specials on PBS and CBS. Expanding on her background in health and filmmaking, Dita served as Senior Vice-President, Executive Producer of Shaw Health Partners, managing professional and consumer education videos, as well as marketing products for launch and promotion. With these incredible achievements in her career, she continued to seek new challenges and added tools like AutoCAD to her skillsets while pursuing a BFA at the New York School of Interior Design. In Jacksonville, Dita founded and served as the principal designer for DD Design. Her focus was on healing spaces within healthcare facilities to foster and support health transformations. She was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and has served as a volunteer for the ASID Foundation. She has been an advocate for Southbank development and has volunteered extensively in the arts and culture sector, including her support of the 2018 MOCA NYE PARTY. She is a long-time MOCA member. While her impressive collection of contemporary art was enhanced by works gifted to her by an aunt with similar passions, Dita is herself an avid collector with representative works by Frank Auerbach, Joan Miro, Frank Stella, and many more. She has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2019.

CHRIS FLAGG
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Christopher Flagg is a talented designer, community visionary and urban planner and has contributed to numerous improvements within the City of Jacksonville. His forty years of professional experience has been recognized on a national level by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) by his elevation to the 2013 Council of Fellows, one of the highest honors awarded within Landscape Architecture. Mr. Flagg continues to dedicate himself to community and downtown advocacy through many professional and philanthropic endeavors.
Over the course of his diverse career, Chris has assisted a vast number of end users at the local, state, and regional levels in visionary ventures that have made significant contributions to an improved quality of life. Chris recognized early on that his work would provide the opportunity to blend art and physical form, offering the unbridled opportunity to cultivate a creative activism that would overlay a host of complex issues and mediate them with quality design solutions. A functional sensibility coupled with a broad vision and an understanding of the unique demands of the profession has been facilitated in Chris's ability to commit his passion to inspire, promote, and mentor. He has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2017.

Scottie Gartner is a member of the National Council of Jewish Women. A few of her favorite artists are Richard Estes, Fernando Botero, Sandro Chia, and Al Held. She has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2014.
MARILYN GILMAN

Marilyn Gilman has worked in the field of Nutrition and Fitness for more than 20 years. She spent several years owning and operating Health Management Resources, Inc. in Jacksonville Beach. She is currently a nutrition educator for Cathedral Arts Project.
Marilyn earned her bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of North Florida. She has spent much of her professional life in nutritional counseling and fitness training. She has been a patron of MOCA Jacksonville for more than a decade, and served as co-chair with her husband, Charles, for the MOCA New Year's Eve gala in 2018. She has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2019.

Soo Gilvarry is the CEO/Owner of Jacksonville-based Lotus Commercial USA LLC, which specializes in real estate development, including the ongoing multi-million dollar redevelopment of the historic Furchgott’s Department Store in downtown Jacksonville.
She has served on the Board of Directors of JAXPORT, Jax Chamber, Downtown Vision Inc., and the World Affairs Council of Jacksonville.
She has been a longtime advocate for the arts and she has also supported various philanthropic organizations, including the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation, Guardian Catholic Schools, and the Baptist MD Anderson Art Collection.
Soo believes in the power of contemporary art and stays connected to trends by attending art exhibition and events, both locally and around the globe. By keeping abreast of the latest developments and establishing connections within the arts community, she is able to make informed decision that provide support the museum.

Courtney Hornsby is the business operations director for Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center and has more than 13 years of healthcare operations and construction experience. She received her bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University and her master's degree from Louisiana State University - Shreveport. Courtney is passionate about creating a collaborative environment of care for patients, families, and caregivers.
At Baptist MD Anderson, Courtney has seen firsthand how carefully curated art can create a healing environment that benefits patients and team members alike. She served on the host and planning committee for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's 2019 Light the Night Walk, which was held at Baptist MD Anderson. She has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2021.
PATRICIA MCELROY

Patricia McElroy serves as President of the VyStar Foundation and Senior Vice President VyStar Credit Union, leading the philanthropic and community engagement efforts in each of the regions that VyStar serves. Throughout her career, Patti has worked to support nonprofit organizations and communities across the country and was previously a commercial litigator with a special focus in securities and banking. She is passionate about diverse and inclusive learning environments, the arts, and community revitalization.
Patti is a graduate of Temple University School of Law, Yale University Divinity School, and Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. She currently serves on the Advisory Committee to the Jacksonville Symphony, and the Boards of OneJax and Lift Jax. Patti was also recently honored as a 2021 Women with Heart through Volunteers in Medicine. She has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2022.
“Art transcends so many limitations of political and social discourse and is fluent in its’ ability to communicate across socio-cultural divides. Contemporary art marks what is important to us in a particular framework of time—politically, socially, and spiritually. Robert Monsky is a native of Jacksonville where he graduated from The Bolles School and went on to get his Bachelor of Science from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. After a successful decade working on Wall Street for Bear Stearns and Sandler O'Neil, he returned to Jacksonville and presently serves as President and Partner of First Florida Capital Corporation and as an affiliate partner of the New York-based investment firm Lindsay Goldberg.
Monsky was a founding board member of the Jacksonville Film Festival from its inception in 2002 until 2012 and a founding board member of Art with a Heart in Healthcare. He enjoys cityscapes and works by Alexander Calder. He has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2015.
SHARI SHUMAN
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Shari Shuman has more than 35 years of experience working alongside education, civic, private, and nonprofit executive leaders developing strategic guidance to increase efficiencies and implement foundational management practices to guide their success. In 2020, she started Shuman Consulting Services assisting clients with project management services, audit and compliance reviews, executive coaching, and providing operational and financial analysis.
In her prior role for 17 years as Vice President of Administration and Finance at the University of North Florida, she oversaw 21 departments ranging from facilities, information technologies, business units and financial areas with more than 650 full- and part-time employees. In addition, she has served as the UNF Foundation Treasurer; Executive Director of the University's Financing Corporation, and Treasurer of the OneJax Board. She has also been a member of many nonprofit boards serving on the Finance, Investment, and Human Resources committees.
Before joining UNF in 2003, Shari worked for the City of Jacksonville, serving in multiple critical financial and leadership roles including Chief of Staff for the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission, City Treasurer, and City Comptroller. Shari received her undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Florida and her Master of Public Administration from University of North Florida. She has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2021.
KAREN STONE
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Karen Stone is vice president and general counsel for the University of North Florida. She is the University's first in-house counsel, having assumed this position in 1992. Stone previously served as an associate general counsel for the University of Florida and has previous experience in the private practice of business law. She has also served as corporate counsel for Athletic Attic Marketing, an international franchising company of sporting goods stores.
Stone earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, with high honors, from the University of Florida, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. She then earned a Master of Arts degree in political science and Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida. She is an active member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys, a past member of NACUA's Board of Directors, and is board certified in education law by the Florida Bar. She has also served on the Bolles School Board of Trustees. She has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2016.
KIP STRASMA

Dr. Kip Strasma is a life-long educator with a career in higher education and is the current Executive Director of Project Management in the President's Office at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Kip is an active member in the Jacksonville arts community and an eager participant in the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, and--of course!—the Museum of Contemporary of Art Jacksonville.
A 12-time Ironman finisher, Kip enjoys running, biking, and swimming--and keeping up with his lifelong partner and wife Ann, who has finished six Ironman events. Kip and Ann reside in the historic Brooklyn/Riverside/Avondale community and enjoy working with and supporting local artists. He has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2023.
EMILY SULLIVAN
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
At the University of North Florida, Emily Sullivan is a distinguished leader serving as the Student Body Vice President. Her role is pivotal, representing the diverse interests of over 17,000 students and managing a substantial budget of $5.6 million. In her capacity, Emily also provides oversight to the University Student Government Executive Agencies, including the Osprey Involvement Center, Osprey Student Conduct Advisors, and Lend-A-Wing.
Beyond her responsibilities, Emily is actively involved and has served in a multitude of University-wide committees, where her influence extends to a range of vital areas. These committees encompass the RecWell Advisory Board, Club Funding Board, Sexual Assault Prevention Council, Mental Health Council, Bright Future Advisory Council, Academic Appeals Committee, Student Life and Traditions Committee, Intercollegiate Athletics Council, Safety Council, Student Fee Assessment Committee, and Student Union Advisory Board.
Emily also actively contributes to the vibrant campus community through her role as the President of the Alpha Phi Sorority, and her previous position as VP of Finance. She also played an integral role in the Greek Ambassador program and established the Sport Management Club, where she currently serves as the President.
KRISTEN SURFACE
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Kristen Surface received a BA in Economics from Princeton University. She worked in the investment banking and consulting industries for seven years and lived in New York, Australia, and Maryland before moving to Jacksonville. She also worked for an architecture firm before deciding to stay home to raise her three children and volunteer in the community. Kristen is on the Board of Trustees of Riverside Presbyterian Day School where she has served as Chair of the Advancement Committee. She has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2017.
STEVEN M. WILSON
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Steven Wilson attended the University of Georgia and the University of Alabama School of Optometry, where he was the Valedictorian. Before starting his own practice, he worked with the United Nations Commission on Refugees as Cambodian Refugee Camps Director of Eye Clinics. From 1981 to 2018 he ran a private optometry practice, which he sold to Keplr Vision, a platform of Imperial Capital/Toronto. Steven was the vice president of provider relations for Keplr Vision until his retirement in 2022. He has served on the Valwood College Prep School Finance Committee, was the Temple Israel Treasurer, Marbella Condo Treasurer, and held a Georgia Insurance Advisory Commission appointment by the Governor. Steven is the founder of the Hillel Foundation @ Valdosta State University and is a member of Beth-El Beaches. His 15 minutes of fame is the “Wilson v Spectera” Georgia Supreme Court Case from 2013, which has led to 17 states changing statutes and a bill currently in US Congress.
CHASE ZIMMERMAN

Chase Zimmerman is a community volunteer with a long history of supporting many organizations in Jacksonville through her dedicated work. She is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and has lived in Jacksonville since 1994. While she has done much in support of the community, she believes that being a mother is the most important role in her life.
Chase serves on the board of directors for the Pace Center for Girls, LID Jewish Family and Children’s Services, and the Jewish Community Alliance. She sits on committees for North Florida School for Special Education, the Jacksonville Zoo Pride Council, Community Hospice, and the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, and she is the Program Chair for the Women’s Board of Wolfson Children’s Hospital. She previously served as a host committee member for Teach for America's “Lighting the Path” celebration in 2019, helped plan the American Cancer Society’s first Cowford Ball and still volunteers with the organization, and while her children were in school she was heavily involved in the Parent Association at The Bolles School. She has served on MOCA Jacksonville’s Board of Trustees since 2020.
