On Thursday, September 1, museum members joined us for our very first Member Mixer. These quarterly wine and cheese (+beer) mixers offer current MOCA Members and their guests the opportunity to learn more about the museum, the benefits of membership, and how they could enhance their engagement.

Members and guests were invited to meet and mingle with MOCA staff and other museum members while enjoying lite bites and drinks. The group enjoyed a brief presentation where they learned about our upcoming 100th anniversary year planning, opportunities to help define how we move forward to better serve our community, and volunteer activities to help document and share MOCA's history with the community. Guests were also asked to share their experiences and memories of the museum as part of the MOCA Memories project that is in development. This community history project will be shared during our anniversary year.

From this event, we were able to find 4 new volunteers who are helping with our history research project, mapping the museum's growth from its establishment in 1924 as the Jacksonville Fine Art Society, through its different iterations over nearly a century of serving the local community. As the first and longest operating organization devoted to the visual arts in Jacksonville, MOCA's team is excited to share its history with the community.

Are you interested in helping us celebrate 100 years of art, artists, and ideas? Volunteer and community engagement opportunities are available now and through our anniversary year.
